There are many ways you can be part of life at St Mark's and St Swithun's: here are some how you can help the church, make some new friends and really feel part of the community.

Welcome  A warm and friendly welcome at services is the most important thing for someone visiting for the first time. Our teams of sidespeople welcome everyone at the door and look after newcomers, as well as handing out service books, taking the collection and making sure everything runs smoothly.

Music  The choir is a vital part of the sung services at St Mark's. If you have a voice and like to sing, please think about joining this joyful group.

Ministry  We have a team of readers, intercessors and servers who make a big contribution to services. We also have a backstage team who make sure everything is properly set up: candles, communion silver, altar dressing and the other things we take for granted in a well-run service.

Flowers  The flower team work hard to make the churches even more beautiful places, arranging flowers and greenery according to the season.

Maintenance  The churches need regular care and attention. At St Mark's this is managed by the Thursday Group which looks after the fabric of the church and halls. If you are at home with an electric drill, a paintbrush or a pair of secateurs, come and see how you can help keep the churches and grounds looking their best.

Hospitality  From refreshments after services to planning bigger events at the year's festivals, the hospitality team make sure everyone is refreshed more than just spiritually.

Pastoral work  Both churches are central to their local community. Visiting the sick and elderly, taking them communion, doing shopping, making meals and giving lifts to hospital appointments are very much part of what we are.
